A Statistical Field Theory for Weak Gravitational Lensing
JBCA Meeting · 7 September 2026 · Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics
The spacetime a light bundle falls through is a random field, so the Sachs equations are a stochastic dynamical system rather than an integral to evaluate once. Treating them that way turns the weak-lensing n-point statistics into moments computed from first principles, past the linear projection. The talk works through the machinery on a toy system where the answer is known exactly, then applies it to cosmic shear.
View slidesJoint Bayesian Calibration and Map-Making
JBCA Colloquium · 28 May 2025 · Manchester
A joint Bayesian treatment of instrumental gain, correlated noise and sky mapping for intensity-mapping experiments. The talk develops conditional sampling methods and demonstrates calibration and map recovery in simulated observations.
Modelling Spinning Dust Emissions
JBCA Colloquium · 28 May 2025 · Manchester
Anomalous microwave emission from grain dynamics to population spectra. The talk introduces SpyDust, full-Stokes emission, moment expansions and the role of rotational statistics.
